Here're some pics of my fondest memories from scouts in the past one year or so...

From top to bottom:
1) Making the catapult - first few activities of our plc term
2) At Pulau Ubin to plan for the hike on 5th June
3) ASS Hike (Sec3s - Yuan Zhi, Reuben, Brendan)
4) Shih Ying acting the "terrorist"

It's been a real long time since i last posted... I've finally decided to come out of hibernation and speak my mind... hahaha... Handover on the 7th July 2007, nice date but what unkind weather... we met at 7am(another nice number), and that's for the sec4s... Left home a lil' late, around 6.20... waited for the bus super long, and then i missed the train at paya lebar... took a cab up to sch fr tanah merah mrt and finally reached at 7.15 only to realise that i was not the only one who's late... shld have taken my time... hahaha...

I won't go through the detailsof that very day, but to sum it all up, it was bitersweet. Just a teeny weeny tinge of sweetness to go with a cup of Kopi-O... haha... It marked the end of 3.5 years in scouts, but it should have been a big hurrah for me when i was in sec1... after going through the scouting system for so many years, i've somewhat adapted to the lifestyle and the hitches and glitches along the way... My final 1.5 years would be considered as my most memorable.. June Camp'06 would be my most memorable camp - a big thanks to Javier and Jun Zhi for making it an event that would go down as one of my more treasured moments in scouting. U guys were fantastic! That done, PLC 06-07 came next... I wasn't expecting the responsibilities that would come with my new posts - Assnt Programme Head, NYAA Coordinator, Treasurer... Firstly, i started out knowing almost nothing about what i was to do... Only a faint knowledge of their jobscope flickered in my mind every now and then... The seniors(at least... most) then did not brief us on what to expect from our posts... Secondly, I had a huge challenge ahead of me... To turn around the state of our nyaa progress over the past years and set the bearings right for the future batches to come... I set the goals in mind for myself... Knew it was not gonna be easy with only the nyaa booklets as a guide... How are reports written? How are the recod booklets supposed to be filled in? When are the submission dates? How am I to coordinate the progress of 2 batches(sec3s and 4s) on all 4 categories of the award scheme? and so on... The teacher-in-charge didnt know much as well, so i guessed i had to start form the scratch...

June'06 - August '06
- made many call to nyaa asking a series of questions
- did research on the various organisations conducting outdoor activities(for nyaa and external programme activities) ; finally found Sea Sports Club, which offered the "best deal" out of all those i've checked out... that's why u sec2s and sec3s had the chance to go kayaking...
- Collection of DONATION DRAW BOOKLTS!!! It was to be the first and last assignment of my plc term... It was very chaotic... Had a hard time chasing all those who didnt hand in their booklets on time... so i wish jin meng good luck this year(heed my advice on having more than a single collection date, k?)
- Cleaned up the den, much to the anger of mr wong ciyi who said that it was all unnecessary(how wrong, coz he will realise that my help would be much needed in the months to come, as chaos started to unfold in the den as time progressed)

September '06
- Kayaking course for u juniors! Finally, after all the delays due to ur very MESSY handwriting, ur applicatrions were finally approved... after i had sat inside the Sea Sports Club office for more than an hour trying to decipher those "alien" lettering on the application forms and convincing the guy that u boys were fit to go for the course... haha... ask javier, coz he was there with me!

October '06
- Submitted the first batch of nyaa applications to mr ong so he could send it to NYAA HQ
- Break for exams;)

November '06
- Kudos to Zhanyi and Ciyi for the successful planning of the November Camp
- Organised the CIP@Library activites to complete the service part of nyaa...
- My first go at managing accounts for camps; what goes in and what goes out...

December '06
- Involved in the planning of Farewell Dinner, along with a few others, namely ciyi, peter, and i think junle... dun blame me if i missed out any others... haha
- Went for our first "Keep Fit, Stay Trim" activity at Tampines Sports complex playing badminton and going for swimming, with the completion of the physical recreation part of nyaa initially on mind

January '07
- Started planning for Jobweek'07
- Took on the task of designing a new PT Kit

February '07
- First batch of nyaa booklets finally submitted to nyaa hq following delays on mr ong's side
Finally, this month was less busy!

March '07
- JOBWEEK! Met our quota of 12K plus! Good job guys!
- Finalised the T-Shirt design after around 20 drafts and many hours spent
- T-Shirts arrive on 23rd March
- 2nd batch of nyaa booklets submitted(Sec2s)

April '07
- Ordered another 9 small size T-Shirts initially for the sec1s as the medium seemed too big for them

Another month that's less hectic!

May'07 - June '07
- Had plans to organise a night cycling epedition for sec3s( sorry, sec2s and 1s are a little young for this... hehe)
- Plans scrapped due to time constraints(sec3s had to plan for ur june camp survival, while sec4s had to plan how u all falter!)
- Went to Pulau Ubin thrice in 9 days till i could cycle over the whole island without refering to the map!
- JUNE CAMP!
- handover

1 year is indeed a very short timeframe to learn from ur mistakes and improve on them.. so what we can do now is to tell u Sec3s the obstacles ahead and to give u all a springboard to further the progress of the troop as a whole, making sure u all know what is expected in the months to come...
A couple of advice:
1) Don't work strictly within the boundaries of ur jobscope; help each other out as much as possible because u can avert possible mistakes ith more brains combined together
2) Don't be an overly-dominant figure in ur plc. Give every one a chance to speak their mind and dun expect everything to go in ur favour all the time. This will avoid possible conflicts from arising within the plc itself
3) Dun NATO - No Action, Talk Only

I will miss u guys though... but never mind it won't be for long... i am 99% bent on joining ventures... the remaining 1% that could change things would be any unforseen circumstances that may arise... ahaha... so thank you for all the support u've given guys! Good Luck and keep the falcon flag flying!!!
